You opted for a duvet 140x190 cm and now you need matching sheets, don't you? Choosing the right size for your duvet is not an easy task. Your sleep can be disturbed if your duvet is too small or lacks the necessary filling.
Learn all you need to know about selecting the ideal duvet in our complete guide.
What size duvet to choose?
First and foremost, a good 140x190 mattress and a good 140x190 pillow are necessary for restorative sleep. These two complementary pieces must be adapted to your preferences using your chosen bedding. A duvet that is too big risks dragging on the floor.
Choosing a duvet that is too small can let air circulate and limit your movements during sleep. Therefore, the size of the duvet is a consideration crucial.
Here are all the considerations to take into account before buying a duvet:
- Night movements : if you move a lot during sleep, don't be afraid to take a larger duvet so that it covers you completely and prevents cold air from entering.
- If you are overweight, you may want to choose a slightly wider and longer duvet to ensure your comfort during sleep.
- The measurements of your bed determine the size of the duvet you need to buy. When the duvet is too small or touches the floor, air can seep through the cracks.
- If you sleep with a partner, it is best to have a larger duvet so that you can both get the cozy blanket you need for a restorative sleep.
There is also the aesthetic consideration to take into account. Some people want their pillows to extend beyond the edges of the bed. Others prefer that the duvet does not explode. Aesthetic value is also a consideration.

What is the standard duvet size 140x190?
To get a drop of 30 centimeters on a classic 140x190cm bed, we recommend a duvet of size 220x240cm. If you sleep alone and do not turn over much, a smaller duvet may be more comfortable. On the other hand, choose a duvet of 220x240 centimeters if you are an active sleeper or a couple that likes to cuddle in bed. It remains to choose the pattern: a duvet cover formula 1 will give character to your well-covered bed.
Choose a duvet size of 200x200 cm or 220 x 240 cm if you have a classic double bed of 140 cm by 190 cm. When you decide on a bed size of 140 x 200, use the same dimensions. When resting in a loft bed, a light drape (200x200) is recommended for more comfort.
You can use the same reasoning if you have a bed that transforms into a sofa using a "click-clac" mechanism. Do you sleep in a normal bed for 2 people ? Choosing a duvet size of 220 mm x 240 mm should not pose any problem.
It will give you a sense of security and warmth and constitutes a cozy retreat in the comfort of your bed.
Finally, if you sleep on a futon or if your bed frame is placed directly on the floor, you must choose a duvet size not exceeding 140 by 200 inches.
What duvet fillings are offered?
Decide quickly on the fillings of the duvet once you have chosen the right size. There are two distinct types of filling:
- Synthetic polyester rafia filling
- Fully natural filling in down or feathers for the duvet.
Our winter duvet is made with a tight weave and long fibers enclosed in a percale casing. It will make you feel soft and warm inside. If the temperature in your room drops below 18 degrees, you should use this duvet.
Each of the two available is suitable for a different period of the year, and you can borrow one or the other.
Since specialists now offer better quality duvets at more affordable prices, feather and down filling has become less common in the bedding industry. You no longer need to look for the best deal for this level of duvet comfort. Do you also need literate additional equipment?
