What fabric should I choose to make a duvet cover?

Quel tissu choisir pour faire une housse de couette ?

You cannot have a peaceful and restorative sleep without choosing bedding that promotes your comfort and well-being. Any new purchase of items, whether a pair of scissors, a pair of earrings or a bolster, will be judged on the quality of the materials used. You also personalize your bedding by choosing sheets, pillowcases and duvets (cotton satin, silk, linen, etc.).

So, how about dressing your bedding by deciding what type of fabric you want your duvet cover to be made of?

Fabrics made from cotton, linen and synthetic fibers predominate in the garment industry. How and where to buy a bedding set and what to look for when making the final decision.

The softness of cotton, for restful nights

The cotton, which can be worn all year round due to its adaptability, is today the most widely used textile fiber in the world. There is a variety of methods for treating this material, and they all depend on the number of filaments per square centimeter and the thickness of the filament. In general, the higher the thread count, the softer and more flexible the fabric is.

That is why we have pure cotton, percale, satin and jersey, all named after specific weaving processes.

Pure cotton bedding

The softness of cotton lasts all year with 100% cotton. Cotton's ability to absorb moisture makes it an excellent summer fabric, and its ability to regulate body temperature makes it a winter hero. The pure cotton, with a thread count of 57 threads/cm2, can withstand use and washing without losing its shape or its color.

Cotton percale for your bed linen

The term "percale" is actually used to refer to a weave rather than a material. This method is simple and useful as it allows your bed linen to be very durable while using extremely fine and long cotton fibers (80 filaments per square centimeter). You will love how its smooth and silky look gives you a sensation of relaxation and rejuvenation.

As for care, the fabric has a long lifespan and does not need to be washed often.

Cotton satin for a soft and luxurious feel on your sheet

To create satin hobo duvet covers, a very tight weaving process is used with very fine thread (120 threads/cm2). The patterns can be seen both from the front and the back, creating interesting light effects. Cotton satin will bring a soft and silky touch.

It feels as good in summer as in winter, and a little dusting is enough to make it look like new.

You have your Jersey cotton dusets

Jersey is quite accommodating, as it is soft, stretchy and incredibly comfortable. The material can be used with any mattress as it is made from a knit that links strands of yarn together. It can also be used on BZ and click-clack benches. Nothing could be simpler to maintain as it does not need to be relau.

The highest quality duvet cover thanks to its silk lining

As a natural thermoregulatory material, linen promises to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. This highly absorbent material quickly releases absorbed moisture. Highly resistant, linen softens with each wash and becomes more pleasant to the touch over time.

Your linen piece can be washed at a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius in a non-fluffy laundry detergent, and it will come out like new.

Synthetic fiber fabrics for your bed sheet

Synthetic polyester fibers and natural cotton fibers are combined to create polycotton. You will love its ease of care ! Synthetic sheet cases do not shrink when washed, so you can dry them and use them immediately.

Moreover, after a certain period of time and use, colors on fabrics retain their brilliance and their luster. You will love to lounge in this soft and light fabric.

TENCEL: An ecological resemblance as soft as silk

Tencel, also known as lyocell, is made from wood fibers such as those found in eucalyptus, bamboo and other similar trees. When these fibers are combined with a non-toxic and biodegradable solvent, the result is Tencel. This fabric has great durability and breathability.

It is so good for you that it has been nicknamed "vegetable silk" due to its useful properties. This fabric is one of our favorites because it requires little maintenance, is eco-friendly, very fluffy and resistant to moisture buildup.

Hemp fabric: durable and resistant to bacteria

The hemp used to make hemp comes from the plant Cannabis ruderalis. There is no other biofiber that can compare to its strength. It is five times more resistant than cotton.

In addition to being durable and respectful of the environment, linens made from hemp also have strong antimicrobial and antifungal properties. As a thermoregulator, chamomile absorbs heat, blocks wind and resists sunlight.

Linen for a soft and comfortable sleep

The thread count of 180 g/m2 of washed linen allows for a very comfortable and restful night. This all-natural fabric has been used for years to make bedding, and now it can maintain a comfortable temperature all night without feeling too hot or too cold. The advantage of washed linen is that it has a naturally frosted side.

In terms of bed linen, it is the fabric that requires the least maintenance possible. See you soon, back-to-school season!
